ELMIRA –– The newly formed Tioga County Food Alliance has unveiled its official logo (attached), designed by 2026 Horseheads High School graduate Kasidy McCracken.
The newly formed Tioga County Food Alliance brings together 30 schools, farms, food pantries, health care providers, municipalities and nonprofit organizations committed to improving access to nutritious food, supporting local agriculture and building a stronger, more connected food system. The Alliance’s development and ongoing work are supported by the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, which helps convene partners and move collaborative solutions forward.
“The organizations serving Tioga County bring tremendous knowledge, resources and commitment to this work,” said Mark Bordeau, President and CEO of the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. “By supporting the Tioga County Food Alliance, the Food Bank is helping partners work together more intentionally—strengthening the systems that connect people with nutritious food today while building a more resilient food system for the future.”
McCracken created the winning design as an assignment for her Drawing and Painting 3 class at Horseheads High School. Her artwork was selected through the Alliance’s “Draw the Future of Food” logo contest, which invited artists to submit original designs reflecting community, connection, healthy food access, local agriculture, growth and sustainability.
“Kasidy’s design beautifully captures the connection, nourishment and shared growth at the heart of the Tioga County Food Alliance,” said Theresa Krause, Food Systems Coordinator at the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. “It gives this newly formed partnership a strong visual identity as we bring organizations together, build on Tioga County’s existing resources and develop community-driven solutions that help more residents access fresh, nutritious food.”
McCracken received a $500 gift card, a certificate of recognition and the distinction of having her design adopted as the Alliance’s official logo. The prize was made possible through support from Happy Compromise and South Central New York Community Foundation. Her design will appear on Alliance materials, social media, and at community events.
The Alliance envisions a cohesive countywide food system that connects local resources, strengthens delivery systems and minimizes food insecurity. Through ongoing communication and joint problem-solving, its partners will work to ensure that all Tioga County residents can access fresh, nutritious food while moving beyond crisis response toward a sustainable, community-driven food system.
