Dear Editor: I awoke this morning, after a week of mulling over this essay, to a truth more dangerous to Chuck Schumer’s reign than AOC’s impending primary challenge. I imagine Chuck saying, “Look at me when I’m telling you this, and I mean business: If the Save Act passes before the mid-terms, you will not see a Democrat in the White House for decades to come. And so many of those swing district Democrats you love so much in Congress will be gone.”
In the plain English of power politics, Chuck knows: If he can’t cheat, he can’t win and he doesn’t hesitate to say it out loud.
As Chuck knows, his Democrats are in serious trouble. While they mouth affordability slogans, health care access issues, equity policy, they have not been offering any solutions to these problems. The tired 2016 never ending mantra, “Trump is bad,” has been co-opted by people with more energy, more charisma, and the willingness of the Iranian mullahs, to espouse ideals anathema to Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity.
So now Chuck prefers being on the 20 side of 80 /20 social issues. Chuck wants to join other boys (if his chosen gender is such) in tiptoeing through the big tent of women’s locker rooms. Chuck is now a Democrat National Socialists of America member, or so he hopes. His big tent rests on platform planks to eliminate the Supreme Court and the Senate(?), to have Congress choose the president, to make Medicare a universal right and entitlement, to freeze all apartment rents, to make day care free for all, and the list goes on and on. Basically, Chuck, who never mined the financial potential of his office the way Nancy, Bernie, Ro, and so many others have, is desperate to maintain his personal slice of the Tammany pie. For his own selfish needs, he is willing to eliminate the Constitution and do away with our rights and freedoms—that is if the “cool communist kids” will let him join? Apparently, he has forgotten what happened the last time Jewish people helped anti-semites take over a government.
Neither Chuck, nor the Democratic Communists of America have a hint of the intellect of the Founders, and not one of them has pledged their life, possessions and their sacred honor to this cause.
Given these circumstances, what is Chuck to do? His party, held together by antipathy to Trump, is losing half their base driving their voters away. Even Chuck knows that making Medicare an entitlement will exhaust the entire annual federal budget. Or does he also have a problem with arithmetic?
Chuck must know if the other Cool Kids Communist policies (CKCP) are ever put in place, we will see the collapse of the American work force. Why work if the government takes everything away from you and squanders it? And we haven’t even mentioned fraud. Moving to Venezuela to improve our lives would look good within two generations.
The Save act can prevent all of this doom and gloom by simply requiring the same identification proof you need to get a job, or buy medicine, or fly on a plane, or do just about anything in this country.
Chuck, you could always try policies that help everyone instead of just your little cliques. And maybe, you could figure out how to do it without dining on the Golden Goose. Oh, and by-the-way, it might make you more electable?
