It is a feeling we all know well as August rolls on, the subtle shift in the morning air, the late-afternoon sun casting slightly longer shadows, and the familiar, bustling energy of families preparing for a new school year.
Just like that, the vibrant, sun-drenched days of summer begin their gentle transition into the crisp, golden hues of fall. The changing of the seasons is one of the most beautiful aspects of living in our area. Each phase of the year brings its own rhythm, its own unique beauty, and for many in our community, its own set of challenges.
At Tioga County Rural Ministry, our work is deeply connected to these natural cycles. During the spring and summer, our focus turns to our Farmers’ Market program, August Food Giveaway, Mapleridge Ranch scholarship program, and our Back-to-School program for teens. As fall and winter set in, we pivot our focus to warmth, both literal and figurative, assisting with utility bills and our various holiday programs, ensuring no one in our community has to face the coldest months alone.
Lately, if you walk through our doors, you’ll hear a common refrain among our staff and volunteers: “Where did the year go?”
It feels like just yesterday we were preparing for the spring and summer, and yet, here we are, already planning our holiday programming. But that is the nature of the work we love; to be there for our neighbors when they need us most, we must stay one step ahead of the calendar.
As we transition into this next beautiful season, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to the Tioga County community. Our ability to adapt to these changing seasons and to meet the needs of our neighbors is possible only because of your constant generosity, volunteer hours and support. We are honored to walk alongside you, serving our community day in and day out.
