Sheriff not seeking reelection

TIOGA COUNTY — The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that Tioga County Sheriff Gary W. Howard has announced he will not seek reelection. Howard, who was elected Sheriff in 2004, will have his term expire in December 2027. He started his career with the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office in 1977 as a Corrections Officer and worked his way up through the ranks. It has been an honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Tioga County for over 50 years, 22 years of which he held the elected position of Sheriff.
