Depot Friday Nights continue on Friday, Aug. 22, at the Lehigh Valley Ray Shaver Depot in Newark Valley with the Ain’t Misbehavin’ band.
On Sunday, Aug. 24, the “Speeders” will return to the Depot tracks. Speeders are small railroad cars that were previously used for maintenance and track inspection until the 1990s when they were replaced. Now they are collected by hobbyists, refurbished, and used for excursions in the U.S. and Canada.
They will be in Newark Valley at approximately 8:30 a.m. for a quick stop before continuing north on the track; they will return to the depot at approximately 11:30 a.m. for lunch.
On Friday, Aug. 29, the Depot welcomes a new addition to the Depot Friday Night lineup: The Hop City Hellcats under the direction of Randy Meritello will entertain on the Depot Stage-wagon.
On Saturday, Aug. 30, longtime favorite Rich Wilson will be back at the Depot to entertain with his unique style of standards by Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and many others.
In August, the Depot will open at 5 p.m. and shows begin at 6:30 p.m.
Food and beverages are available; admission is free and open to the public. Weather permitting, the concerts will be outside, so bring a chair and a friend.
Further information about the Depot programs can be found on the historical website, nvhistory.org.
This project is made possible in part with public funds from the NYS Council on the Art’ Decentralization Program, administered locally by The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes.
