Lourdes to host overdose prevention training

Lourdes Hospital’s Youth Services Program will hold a free Naloxone training session. Naloxone is a medication used to counter the effects of opioid (morphine and heroin) overdose. Opioids also include prescription medications such as oxycodone, methadone and Vicodin.

This training is open to the public. Anyone who may come in contact with someone who is using an opiate or opioid may attend, including professionals, community members and concerned family members.

Participants will learn about overdose prevention and how to correctly administer Naloxone. All participants will go home with a free rescue kit. Kits will include either the intranasal naloxone or the intramuscular naloxone.

The training will take place on Thursday, March 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Lourdes Youth Services, Community Room at 219 Front St., Binghamton.

Register online at www.lourdes.com or call (607) 584-3112 to register by phone.  Register early – Seating is limited.
