Once again, the Owego Girls Swimming and Diving Team take top honors in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference (STAC) All Stars. Of the 12 events, eight Owego swimmers dominated the Central Division with All Stars named in 8 individual events.
Eighth graders Katie Shoen (50 free), Emma French (100 Back) and Elizabeth Smith (100 Breast) are new to the All Stars while veterans Summer Pierce (200 Free), Marissa Scott (200 IM), Amanda Foster (100 Fly), Chelsea Angulas (100 Free), and Kristen McKee (500 Free) round out the Central Division All Star line up.
The more encompassing All Conference All Star designees are a group of four swimmers capturing All Star status across six events. Seniors Chelsea Angulas, Alexa Gault and Marissa Scott were named All Conference All Stars in the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay along with freshman Summer Pierce. Each of these four swimmers also earned individual All Conference All Star recognition in individual events including Alexa Gault in the 50 free, Summer Pierce in the 100 Fly, Chelsea Angulas in the 100 Back and Marissa Scott in the 100 Breast.
These nine All Star swimmers have given Owego the depth and breadth it will need to continue this level of success in the years to come. The whole team contributes to each and every practice and race, giving 100 percent of their effort under the guidance of Head Swim Coach Jason Westervelt and Head Diving Coach Sarah Ficarro.
The Owego Girls Swimming and Diving Team finished their season undefeated for the third year in a row as well as coming out on top of Section IV as Class B Champions for the seventh year in a row.
