Adult Prom Night, an event arranged to bring people together ages 21 and over for an enjoyable evening of dancing, refreshments and activities, also, in turn, helps the community. A portion of the proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the U.S. Marine Corps “Toys for Tots.”
Event organizer, Dawn Krug, a local psychic medium and owner of Awareness Intuitive Studio, came up with the idea of Adult Prom Night as a way to give back to the community. The first of its kind in the area, Adult Prom Night events are popular throughout the United States and typically benefit various charities.
Krug explained that as a young person and later as a mother, her family struggled financially and oftentimes money was limited at Christmas. As the mother of three and now a grandmother, Krug understands first-hand the difficult and stressful aspects that families experience during the holiday season. Krug is hopeful that the first annual Adult Prom Night will help local parents and their children have a happier Christmas.
Future Adult Prom Night’s will benefit various charities in our region. Krug shared that Toys for Tots was selected this year since her brother, who serves in the U.S. Marines, is involved with the program. A family with Marine roots, Krug’s son currently serves in the U.S. Marines as well.
Adult Prom Night at the Grand Victorian Inn features door prizes, 50/50 drawings, a silent auction, photo booth, and music provided by D.J. A’Don Allen. Hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar and the crowning of a “Prom King and Queen” will also be part of the evening activities.
Krug shared, “This is a semi-formal occasion, so evening gowns and tuxedos are optional.” Krug added, “For ladies, dig into your closet for your little black dress and you’re all set for the night!”
Tickets for the Adult Prom Night event are $55 for couples and $35 for singles. Single persons will receive a bracelet at the door to identify their relationship status. Guests who bring a new toy to the event will be entered into a door prize.
Krug shared, “Bring a date or bring your spouse. For singles, mix and mingle with other singles.”
Pre-purchased tickets are strongly recommended. More than 100 tickets have already been sold, with a maximum of 240 tickets available.
