Farewell Open House at Berkshire Free Library

An Open House will be held at the Berkshire Free Library on Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. to extend their best wishes to Director LuAnn Whirl and to welcome Fran Miller as their new Director.

LuAnn has been a dedicated and passionate library advocate, participating annually with meeting local state representatives in Albany during Library Day each spring. In her strong commitment to children’s literacy, she has obtained grant funding for pre-school Story Time at the Congregational Church in Richford and at the library and has invested much energy into the Summer Reading Program in Richford and Berkshire. She has expanded the library’s teen collection and has encouraged the participation of young people in library activities.

As a teacher, Fran has had success with bringing teens and young students together through literacy programming. She is also at ease with technology and looks forward to learning and demonstrating the many on-line services available to the community through the Finger Lakes Library System. She looks forward to meeting and assisting the community through the library.

The library is located on Route 38 in Berkshire, N.Y.
