T.A.L.L. announces fall computer class schedule

The Tioga Adult Learning Lab, (T.A.L.L.), has released the dates of no cost computer classes for late September and October. T.A.L.L. serves adult students throughout the Southern Tier and is operated by Literacy Volunteers of Broome/Tioga Counties, Inc. in partnership with Tioga County, N.Y.

T.A.L.L. provides instruction in introductory level computer applications, and offers vocational assistance to those seeking employment. T.A.L.L offers at no cost high speed Internet, has staff to work with adults to improve their personal workplace skills, offers resume and cover letter formatting, and provides students with software to learn basic keyboarding and typing skills. A grant-funded program, there are no fees for any of the workshops or services T.A.L.L. provides. Adults of any age are welcome to enroll in classes.

T.A.L.L. operates evenings, Monday through Thursday, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. in Room 105 at the Owego Free Academy, Owego, N.Y.

Classes offered include “The Internet Made Easy” planned for Wednesday, Sept. 30 or Wednesday, Oct. 28 (choose one session); “E-Mail Basics” on Wednesday, Oct. 14; and “Social Networking – Using Facebook” offered on Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 21 and 22 (attend both sessions). This “Facebook” class will give the student the basics of setting up and using this popular social media site, using privacy and security settings.

Other courses offered are “Basics of Microsoft Publisher” offered Thursday, Oct. 8; and  “Basics of Microsoft PowerPoint”, a presentation program, offered Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 26 and 27 (attend both sessions).

All evening classes are from 6 to 8 p.m. Numerous open-lab evening sessions are also scheduled.
