Goshen-George L. Neild, age 65.
Goshen-George L. Neild, 65, passed away on Sept. 20 at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
He was born Aug. 3, 1950 in Cortland, N.Y. to Otto and Ruth (Beebe) Neild. On Oct. 21, 1972 he married Kay E. Morris in Tioga Center, N.Y.
She survives along with four children, Andy (Caroline) Neild, Streamwood, Illinois; Jennifer (Scott) Schaetzle, Bourbon; Amy (Matt) Kinnell, Wilmore, Kentucky; and Kelly (Jeremy) Jackson, Goshen; 11 grandchildren and four siblings, Garth (JoAnne) Neild, Williamson, N.Y.; Georgia Gould, Cape Coral, Florida; Gloria (Ed) Bidwell, Owego, N.Y.; and Gayle (Russell) Gates, Hopkinton, New Hampshire.
His parents preceded him in death.
Neild moved to the Goshen area in 1993 from New York. He worked as a tool and die operator at Goshen Stamping and also a farmer. Following his retirement he started Rock Run Taxi Service. He was an active member of People’s Bible Church in Benton, where he was a former elder of missions, team leader and youth leader.
In the Tioga Center area, Neild served as a 4-H leader, volunteer fireman/EMT and as a national Farmedic Instructor.
He served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam.
Friends gathered on Sept. 23 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home in Illinois. A funeral service, conducted at People’s Bible Church, was held on Thursday with Pastor John Randolph officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were requested to be offered to the People’s Bible Church for their Mission Trip Fund.
