The Owego Free Academy (OFA) Classes of 1975 and 1976, as part of their class reunion planned for Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015 will be holding a food drive. All non-perishable foods are welcome.

Organizers are hoping to help fill the pantries before the holiday season arrives.

One of the organizers stated, “We all know the pantries are hit the hardest during the holiday season and they are hoping to get ahead of that curve. We are asking that you get the word out and donate what you can.”

On Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., donations can be dropped off at the St. Patrick’s Church parking lot (drive through and drop-off at garages on-site) in Owego, N.Y.

Donations will benefit Tioga County Rural Ministry in Owego, the Open Door Mission in Owego, the Lounsberry Food Pantry, and the the Park Terrace Food Pantry in Apalachin.

As for the reunion, it is combined OFA Classes of 1975 and 1976, and the main reunion event will take place beginning at 5:30 a.m. at Tioga Trails located on the corner of Main and Lake Streets in Owego, N.Y.

The cost is $40 per person, and there will be food, as well as music provided by Phillips Head during the event.

Attendees can register, as soon as possible, with Bonnie Becker Hand (Class of 1975) by emailing handbcj@aol.com, or Betsy Becker Knapp (Class of 1976) by email to bknapp1@stny.rr.com.

According to John Loftus, one of the organizers, this is the 40th class reunion for the Class of 1975 and would be the 39th for the Class of 1976. According to Loftus, there have been several reunions over the years for both classes, and this is the second time the classes have organized a joint reunion. They are expecting 100 to 150 to attend for this joint reunion.
