The Sayre Turkey Trot 5K and Kids’ Fun Run has become the largest 5K running event in Bradford County. The 8th Annual event held on Thanksgiving morning 2014 attracted over 1,000 participants registered and the Sayre Turkey Trot continues to attract more participants each year from all over the nation.

This year, the event will offer exciting additions for the participants: a new USA Track and Field Certified race route; new prize money categories, with cash prizes for over-all male and female finishers, first place $75, second place $50, third place $25; and a guaranteed long-sleeved race tech shirt to all 5K participants who pre-register by Nov. 15.

The team is also holding free organized community group runs on the USA T&F certified race route the second and fourth Thursdays of each month until Thanksgiving Day. These runs leave from the Howard Elmer Park in Sayre at 6 p.m.

Fund raising proceeds will benefit the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary community and hospital projects and their 2015 Charity Partners: Animal Care Sanctuary, Bradford County Humane Society, Happy Tails No Kill Animal Shelter, Inc. and Stray Haven Humane Society & SPCA, Inc. A collection of pet food and other needed items for shelter animals from participants on race morning will be donated to the animal shelters.
