Little Paulie and the Footrockers will perform from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 19 at Ahwaga Park in Owego (by the Barleycorn).
Greater Binghamon’s Little Paulie and the Footrockers will give fans a chance to see them live on the first night of this year’s Strawberry Festival. From 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 19 you can expect to hear some blues meshed with original styles of funk, soul, and R&B at Ahwaga Park (by the Barleycorn).
Making up the band is Paul “Doc” Underwood on bass and vocals, Chuck Hurlbut on guitar and vocals, Mike Savona on drums, Rick White on vocals, and Paula Bacorn on keyboard and vocals.
Doc is responsible for starting the band based on the idea to fuse the sounds of James Brown with Muddy Waters. With over 30 years experience, he has made T.V. and radio appearances, created studio recordings, and played at numerous blues festivals.
Helping Doc get the band together, Chuck not only performs on the guitar in Little Paulie and the Footrockers, but also runs BinghamTone – a guitar shop specializing in repairing and selling vintage guitars and amps.
Contributing the lead vocals, Rick White has been singing since age 15. He has dabbled in jazz, country and pop music, but his heart has always been in rock and roll and blues.
As the only female in the band, Paula brings her musical expertise to the group. She has been a church organist for three decades, directed numerous community theatre shows, and currently serves as a jazz vocalist in a regional performing band. Furthermore, she has performed at the festival years ago with her husband (also playing this year with Hot Biscuits) in the Blue Velvet Big Band.
When asked about their accomplishments, Paula said, “We’re just glad to still be standing and still be crazy after all these years.” They are pleased to bring their youthful energy to the crowd after all of their years in the business.
With no surprise, their main influence is Muddy Waters, followed by Freddie King, Robert Cray, Little Feat, Sam Cooke, Herbie Hancock, and Bonnie Raitt.
For booking info, you can contact them on their website at www.thefootrockers.com, or Chuck at (607) 768-1700. You may even run into them enjoying one of their favorite things about the Strawberry Festival – the food!
