Big Splash Sustainability Weekend returns to Owego

Big Splash Sustainability Weekend returns to OwegoOn May 23 and 24, the Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance will present its Big Splash Sustainability Weekend at the Tioga County Fairgrounds (Marvin Park) in Owego, New York. Join them for two days of music, green business exhibitions, local foods and workshops. There will be a presentation from Southern Tier Solar Works about their new Broome/Tioga County solar initiative: Solarize the Southern Tier.

The music line up is bigger and better than ever this year. They are excited to announce that Donna the Buffalo, Driftwood, Sophistafunk, The Primate Fiasco, Big Mean Sound Machine, Megan Jean and the KFB, Bobby Henrie and Aaron Lipp, The Cabin Killers, The Falconers, Milkweed, The Woodshed Prophets, Tumbleweed Highway, and many more will be joining them this Memorial Day Weekend.

The Sustainability Weekend will feature renewable energy vendors, home efficiency companies, local farmers, not for profit groups, environmental advocacy groups, local artisans, health/awareness organizations and more.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. on May 23, and run through May 24. Tickets (including camping) are available online at www.GrassRootsBigSplash.com. Weekend tickets are available at Las Chica’s Taqueria in Owego, at the Cyber Café and Jabberwok in Binghamton, at Jabberwok in Ithaca, and Good-to-Go! in Trumansburg.

A weekend pass is $20 in advance or $25 at the gate. A day pass is $10 in advance or $15 at the gate. Kids 12 and under are free. No outside alcohol is permitted, alcohol will be provided for sale.

Onsite camping will be available. Tents, RVs, and campers are all welcome. The cost is $25 per tent, RV, or camper for the weekend.
