Guthrie post-concussion support group to meet

The Guthrie post-concussion support group for athletes and their families will hold its next meeting on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m. in the 4 Blue Conference Room located on the fourth floor of the Guthrie Medical Group in Sayre, Pa. The meeting is free and open to the public.

The group offers support to athletes, and their families, who are dealing with sports related post-concussion syndrome and those who have been forced to stop playing sports or working because of repeated concussions.

This month’s guest speakers are Darrell and Sue Wright, who will be joined by their son on live webcast. The Wrights will talk about their son’s struggle with Post-Concussion Syndrome including the non-traditional symptoms he initially experienced, the different concussion specialists he saw, and the debilitating crashes that he would experience for weeks on end. They will also talk about how important it is to become an advocate for yourself and/or your children.

For more information, contact Steven Hicks, MS, ATC by email to twintierspcsg@gmail.com. The group also maintains a Facebook page, Twin Tiers Sports Post-Concussion Support Group.
