VFW to host Roast Pork dinner and commemorate the sinking of the Maine

On February 14, 1898, the Maine was sunk in the Panama. Every year, on the closest Saturday to the 14th, the VFW Post 1371 in Owego celebrates this date by initiating new members into the organization. This year the event will take place at the VFW Post on Feb. 13 with dinner served at 5 p.m., a Ritual Team who will conduct an initiation at 6 p.m., and then dance with "Country Connectioin" at 8 p.m. The admission to the dance is $5, and the dinner is a freewill offering.
