T.A.L.L. Registering Computer Workshop Students

The Tioga Adult Learning Lab, (T.A.L.L.), has announced upcoming classes in the basics of computer instruction. T.A.L.L., operated by Literacy Volunteers of Broome/Tioga Counties, Inc., serves adult students from Broome and Tioga counties, and is in partnership with Tioga County and the Owego-Apalachin Central School District. T.A.L.L. provides instruction in introductory level computer applications, works with adults to improve their personal workplace skills, offers resume and cover letter formatting, lends assistance with Civil Service Exam preparation, and provides students with software to learn basic keyboarding and typing skills. There are no fees for any of the workshops or services T.A.L.L. provides. TA.L.L. is currently accepting students for the two evening workshop "Using the Internet". This hands on session will give students tips on using the Internet, including on-line searches, terminology, and Internet connections and safety. The dates for this session are Tuesday, February 16 and Thursday, February 18, two hours each evening. T.A.L.L. is also still accepting students for the course "Basics of Microsoft® Windows XP, Word & Excel". This six-week comprehensive beginners course is designed to provide basic instruction in the Windows operating system, and also students the opportunity to learn how to create simple Word documents and Excel spreadsheets. Students can choose one six-week session to attend: a session meeting on Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning on Monday, February 22, or a session meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning on Tuesday, February 23. Each class meets evenings, at Owego Free Academy, room 248, Sheldon Guile Blvd., Owego, NY. Students must be pre- registered to attend, and can do so by calling the Literacy Volunteers office at 748-5478. Class meeting times will be given out at time of registration.
