In one final tune-up before the 2010 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships in March, the Big Red's men's and women's teams both earned victories at the Kenyon Invitational on Saturday in Gambier, Ohio.
Among the competitors was Andy Catlin, a graduate of Owego Free Academy.
In an early competition, the Big Red's 800 free relay team of Dan Thurston (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron), Bernard Chen (Singapore/Anglo-Chinese School), Joe Katich (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) and Andy Catlin (Owego, N.Y./Owego Free Academy) sent everyone home happy after posting their second-straight win in the distance relay event. Thurston got things going with a 1:39.66 lead-off leg and Catlin closed things out with an anchor-best 1:40.36 split. The team compiled a time of 6:43.57 to top Kenyon by almost two seconds.
Denison will look to improve upon their pair of third place finishes in last year's NCAA Division III Championship, beginning on March 17 and continuing through March 20 in Minneapolis, Minn.
