Owego Police Department activity February 15 through 21

A North Avenue property owner called to report damage to his building. According to the complainant, persons unknown had spray painted obscenities on the rear door to his property. No witnesses or suspects at this time. ~ William R. Hall of Fox Street was arrested at the Broome County jail by members of the Owego Police Department on an outstanding arrest warrant for possession of marihuana. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Village of Owego Court at a later date. ~ An Adeline Street resident called to report that within the past week several youths entered a downstairs apartment and damaged a garbage can, screen door, and window screen. The incident was reported for police information only. ~ Members of the Owego Police Department are investigating the theft of several personal checks from a Paige Street residence. The suspects have been identified and the investigation is continuing. ~ A school district employee reported the theft of a wallet containing personnel identification from his unlocked vehicle while it was parked at the school. ~ Patrols were dispatched to a North Avenue youth center in regard to a possible disturbance. Investigation showed that two juveniles, who had been previously banned for disrupting the activities, had returned and were refusing to leave. Officers interviewed the suspects and their parents and were able to resolve the matter. ~ Officers responded to a reported disturbance East Avenue. The suspect had fled the area prior to police arrival. Patrols were not able to locate the subject and the remaining parties denied to pursue charges. ~ Harrison Timberlake, age 49, no permanent address, was arrested and charged with Burglary in the second degree after officers responded to a disturbance call at a North Avenue apartment. Investigation showed that Timberlake had broken into the victim’s apartment and had attacked her - striking her and breaking her telephone. Timberlake was found hiding in a storage room and taken into custody. After processing he was arraigned and remanded to the Tioga County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
