Owego Little League (OLL) President Ken Winters and his staff will give an overview of the 2010 season and answer questions at the League’s Annual Information Meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, at the Edward Hubbard Auditorium of the Tioga County Office Building, 56 Main St. Managers and coaches must attend. All other OLL volunteers are invited to attend.

Player Agent Karen Vinti will do final registration from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, also at Hubbard Auditorium of the Tioga County Office Building. This late registration gives all children in the Owego-Apalachin School District a chance to play in Little League Tee Ball and Baseball, Girls Softball and Teener Baseball.

A historian is needed to do OLL History from 2001 to 2010. Current focus is Retired Managers and Coaches and Their Team Members. Coach Bob

Anders volunteered to develop this section. Email him at mrbob@binghamtonwireless.com.

Here’s an example of a "Memorable Moment" from the recent Coaching Players and Guiding Parents Briefing at OES. Retired Windsor Athletic Director and Coach Gary Vail had tears welling in his eyes as he told OLL managers and coaches this story.

"One of my players serving in Iraq as a Marine was under enemy fire. He remembered me saying: ‘Be Calm, Think, and Execute‘. He came home safe from Iraq. He went to my house. He said ‘Thanks Coach. You saved my life in Iraq.’ We hugged. The kid heard me. Coaches do not know what kids hear." Tryouts and candidate evaluations will be held Saturday, March 20. It is very important for all managers and players to attend. Players will be evaluated on their batting/bunting, fielding fly balls and ground balls and throwing and running.

The baseball clinic, at the OAMS, will be held for ages 7-9 from 9 to 11 a.m., age 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and ages 11-12 from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

A softball clinic at OES gym will be held for ages 10-12 from 9 a.m. to noon, and ages 7-9 from 1 to 3 p.m.

The first outdoor player clinic for all ages will be held on March 27 at Hyde Park.

An April date is being arranged for the annual and required First Aid Training.
