The Owego Citizens Party will host a 2nd "Candidate Meet and Greet" at An Affair to Remember on Talcott Street on Sunday March 14 from 2 to 5 p.m. All are encouraged to meet the candidates and enjoy hors d’oeuvres. "Our first Candidate Meet and Greet was very successful," said Patrick Gavin, Chairperson of the party. "This second one will allow our candidates to continue to be in direct contact with the voters to hear their concerns and get our message out there." Citizen Party candidates are Rich Watkins for the Office of Mayor; as well as Tom Clark, Ken Smith, Jim Legursky, and Ann Lockwood for the Offices of Trustee. The party is also endorsing the candidacy of Krista Welch who is running for the Office of Clerk-Treasurer independent from the party who will also be in attendance. The Citizens Party has drafted a detailed platform to address the pressing issues facing the Village. The platform guarantees, if elected, the Citizens Party will hold town hall meetings on all major issues facing the Village. The purpose of the town hall meetings is to lay out the issues, review the choices, discuss the merits and demerits of the solutions, and reach a consensus amongst the owners of the Village, the citizens. This will allow the citizens to engage their elected representatives in direct conversation much like the Candidate Meet and Greets. Village of Owego elections are Tuesday, March 16, from noon to 9 p.m. at the Owego Central Fire Station on North Avenue. The Citizens Party is offering rides to the polls by contacting OwegoCitizensParty@gmail.com or by calling 687-5411.
