On March 21, a benefit will be held at the Owego Moose Lodge on Rt. 17C from 1 to 6 p.m. to support the family of Harry Espe.

Harry, along with his wife Margaret and their children Andrew, Elizabeth and Audrey are life long residents of Owego. Harry was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) at a young age. For the past three years Harry has been on dialyses, and tests revealed that Margaret could be his kidney donor.

But in preparing to make room for the new kidney, tests concluded that Harry has a rare Liver cancer. Therefore, the kidney transplant is on hold as Harry prepares to begin chemotherapy.

To assist the family and support them during these difficult times, the Chicken and Biscuit dinner and benefit will offset some of the family’s expenses. The cost is a $7 donation for adults, and $5 for children 12 and under.

Also, those willing to donate baked goods are asked to bring their "peanut butter and nut free" donations. You can also donate to the family by sending checks, payable to Harry Espe Benefit Fund, to Mary Kay Ebbers, 21 Valley View Dr., Endicott, NY 13760.
