Apalachin resident says tax increase is worth it!

Dear Editor,

I'm writing about the Apalachin Fire Departments desire for a renovated building. The existing structure does not meet local, state of federal regulations. I feel we need and should support these volunteers of our Fire department and Ambulance services that are provided for us at minimal cost.

Consider what it would cost if we paid weekly salaries for these same services they provide? These volunteers also raise money for their Fire Department at the annual Firemen Field Days. Do you feel a paid Fire Department staff would do that?

I for one will vote YES for this needed improved and renovated building. I feel the small increase in our annual taxes are worth the excellent service these volunteers provide to our community.
