On March 21, from 3 to 4 p.m., the Always on Sunday series will present Harpist Martha Gallagher at the First Presbyterian Union Church in Owego. Harpist Martha has been sharing her spirited and distinctive harp music with audiences for over 30 years. Her repertoire includes a mix of Celtic, Blues, American Folk/Roots, Jazz, Classical, and a bit of Flamenco. Her original music is a blend of styles that moves gracefully form serious to silly, from light to dark and from here to there. Martha has performed on tour with "The Chieftans" as well as on several solo tours around the U. S. and Canada. She has been featured on numerous television and radio programs including BBC Television, Northeast Public Radio, and Good Morning Arizona. Renowned for leaving her audiences uplifted and entertained, Martha draws on a colorful tapestry of bardic traditions, weaving them into music for the present day. "Martha Gallagher is Joan Baez, Janis Joplin, Jean Redpath all rolled into one! Her music lifts up the spirit, and reminds us why we’re here. She’s a treasure," Todd Moe, North Country Public Radio. Next Sunday’s concert is free, but donations are appreciated to benefit the Tioga County Council on the Arts. This concert is made possible by the generosity of The Harp Studio, the Tioga County Senior Citizens Foundation and The Cooper Foundation. For more information, call 687-0785, or visit
