A New Hope Center is looking for volunteers; training scheduled

Opportunity is knocking for those interested in giving something back to their community. A New Hope Center of Tioga County is looking for men and women to help volunteer for its crisis line. Volunteers are needed to staff the 24-hour crisis hotline, to provide support, counseling and crisis intervention services. The organization is a non-profit New York State licensed organization providing comprehensive, progressive services for victims of abuse. The training is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 15. It will run for ten weekd from 6 to 9 p.m. every Monday and classes will be held in Owego. Call 687-6866 for more information. A New Hope Center is located at 20 Church St. in Owego. Space is limited for volunteer opportunities, and those wishing to volunteer will be accepted into the class until the capacity is reached. Upon completion of the class, volunteers will receive NYS DOH Rape Crisis Counselor certification. Participants will also be able to participate from the comfort of their own home.
