Floyd Hooker Foundation Fund of the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers (CFTT) recently awarded nine grants to organizations presently serving the youth of Tioga County, NY at the recommendation of the Floyd Hooker Advisory Board. Grant awards ranged from $688 to $1,000 and are being used for operational, equipment, capital and special needs projects.

Owego Little League (OLL) President Ken Winters and his staff will give an overview of the 2010 season and answer questions at the League’s Annual Information Meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, at the Edward Hubbard Auditorium of the Tioga County Office Building, 56 Main St. Managers and coaches must attend. All other OLL volunteers are invited to attend.
Player Agent Karen Vinti will do final registration from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, also at Hubbard Auditorium of the Tioga County Office Building. This late registration gives all children in the Owego-Apalachin School District a chance to play in Little League Tee Ball and Baseball, Girls Softball and Teener Baseball.

The Tioga County Clerks Office is hosting a Passport Fair in Owego on March 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to provide passport information to U.S. citizens and to accept passport applications. The Tioga County Clerks Office is joining the Department of State in celebrating Passport Day in the USA 2010, a national passport acceptance and outreach event.

The deadline for ordering tree and shrub seedlings from the Tioga County Soil and Water Conservation District is March 31. A good selection of 11 evergreen seedlings and transplants and 24 deciduous tree and shrub seedlings are offered for sale in the Conservation Planting Program. Stock can be purchased in quantities of 10 or more of any one species or a choice can be made from the six packs of assorted species for different uses. Orders should be placed now to assure availability. Orders will be available for pick up on April 16 and 17.

The Tioga United Way and the Tioga County Historical Society Museum, as an extension of their concern for youth, are sponsoring an Art Exhibition. This exhibition of two and three dimensional art is open to all students grades Kindergarten thru 5 who are residents of Tioga County.
The art work will be on display at the Tioga County Historical Society Museum located at 110 Front St. in Owego March 25. The museum is open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday each week.
