{"id":95030,"date":"2023-03-22T22:42:03","date_gmt":"2023-03-23T02:42:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.owegopennysaver.com\/PS\/?p=95030"},"modified":"2023-03-22T22:42:03","modified_gmt":"2023-03-23T02:42:03","slug":"showing-of-she-said-at-the-first-presbyterian-union-church-in-owego","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.owegopennysaver.com\/PS\/2023\/03\/22\/showing-of-she-said-at-the-first-presbyterian-union-church-in-owego\/","title":{"rendered":"Showing of \u2018She Said\u2019 at the First Presbyterian Union Church in Owego"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">The First Presbyterian Union Church, located on the corner of North Avenue and Temple Street in Owego, will show the movie &#8220;She Said&#8221; on Saturday, March 25, at 7 p.m. in its Fellowship Hall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The FPUC Faith Practices Committee invites church members and friends from the community to view \u201cShe Said\u201d on the big screen in the church\u2019s fellowship hall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cShe Said\u201d is a troubling and inspiring true story. \u201cTroubling\u201d because of how common abuse&nbsp;happens. \u201cInspiring\u201d because the victims&nbsp;had the courage to go public with their painful stories.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor of The New York Times investigate the sexual abuse allegations against powerful Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. The shocking story also serves as&nbsp;a launching pad for the #MeToo movement, shattering decades of silence around the subject of sexual assault and harassment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The movie is rated \u201cR\u201d because of language and descriptions of sexual assault.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Movie critic and Presbyterian minister Edward McNulty writes, \u201cThe importance of this story cannot be overstated. Weinstein and his ilk had been protected by the powerful (such as the publisher of The National Enquirer).
