{"id":77782,"date":"2020-02-21T14:25:07","date_gmt":"2020-02-21T18:25:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.owegopennysaver.com\/PS\/?p=77782"},"modified":"2020-02-21T14:25:17","modified_gmt":"2020-02-21T18:25:17","slug":"wetlands-and-woodland-hike-at-greenway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.owegopennysaver.com\/PS\/2020\/02\/21\/wetlands-and-woodland-hike-at-greenway\/","title":{"rendered":"Wetlands and Woodland Hike at Greenway"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Fat, fluffy flakes flittered from above as an enthusiastic group of hikers energetically made their way through the wetlands and woodland at the Carantouan Greenway\u2019s Wildwood Nature Preserve on Sunday, Feb. 2, in homage to National Wetlands Day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hike, halted at times as the Greenway\u2019s naturalist, Marty Borko, described subtle nuances in nature that can easily be overlooked by the undiscerning eye, particularly in a mostly monochromatic winter. Many birds were seen and discussed; questions answered about which ones stay for winter and which ones migrate, and when we should start seeing the earliest birds return.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" src=\"http:\/\/www.greenstreetdata.com\/PS\/owego\/files\/2020\/02\/Hike2.jpg\" alt=\"Wetlands and Woodland Hike at Greenway\" class=\"wp-image-77784\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.greenstreetdata.com\/PS\/owego\/files\/2020\/02\/Hike2.jpg 320w, http:\/\/www.greenstreetdata.com\/PS\/owego\/files\/2020\/02\/Hike2-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><figcaption>On Sunday, Feb. 2, a hike took place at the Carantouan Greenway\u2019s Wildwood Nature Preserve in homage to National Wetlands Day. Provided photo.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>For some it was the first time to see the newly installed deer enclosure and Leopold benches completed by Eagle Scouts.
