This free program will be offered on Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Union Church, located at North Avenue and Temple Street in Owego.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Communication is more than just talking and listening \u2013 it\u2019s also about sending and receiving messages through attitude, tone of voice, facial expressions and body language. As people with Alzheimer\u2019s disease and other dementias progress in their journey and the ability to use words is lost, families need new ways to connect.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Join them to explore how communication takes place when someone has Alzheimer\u2019s, learn to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, and identify strategies to help you connect and communicate at each stage of the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stephanie D&#8217;Amico, Associate Care Manager for Alzheimer&#8217;s Association\u2019s Central New York Chapter, will be presenter for this program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They are asking participants to register so they have enough handouts.
