It was all about dinosaurs, music and superheroes last weekend as the Historic Owego Marketplace (HOM) hosted the 39th Annual Strawberry Festival in downtown Owego.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With close to two-dozen bands and entertainers scattered throughout the venue, the event highlighted Woodstock\u2019s 50th with Friday evening\u2019s Courthouse performance by Professor Louie & The Crowmatix. A festival favorite, Wreckless Marci, opened for the band along with Owego Free Academy\u2019s Making The Band, who returned to the Courthouse Stage this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over on Lake Street, even the dinosaurs were rocking with Jeff Howell\u2019s Boogie du jour, Iron Horse of Ithaca, and the fifth grade band from Owego, The Possibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Glenmary\u2019s Ghost, a band formed locally, debuted on Front Street this year, along with others, and various entertainers provided music from a new location on North Avenue on Saturday and in front of The Game Stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The parade was also a big hit on Saturday! Following judging, first place in the Children\u2019s Category went to Troop 38, with Fairbanks placing second. In the Float Category, first place went the NYS Women\u2019s Inc., and second place went to Stray Haven. The dinosaurs, which were scheduled to ride on the Rieger Regatta float, didn\u2019t make it over to the staging area on time, but were able to jump in along the way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The guests that arrived from around the region for the annual festival enjoyed everything offered to include the vendors, puppets, music and more, during this two-day event.
