On Wednesday, May 22, Endicott Police responded to a 911 report of a male entering Union-Endicott High School with a gun. The subsequent investigation led to the arrest Derrick J. Abney, age 18 of Binghamton, for one count each of Making a Terroristic Threat, a class \u201cD\u201d Felony, and Criminal Trespass in the 3rd degree, a class \u201cB\u201d Misdemeanor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident began at approximately 12:15 p.m. when a 911 call was received from a concerned citizen regarding a male entering the high school armed with a gun. High school personnel immediately placed the high school in a \u201clockdown\u201d. Within three minutes of the 911 call, according to police, the suspect was taken into custody by responding officers from the Endicott Police Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The investigation revealed that Abney was involved in a dispute off school grounds with an acquaintance, when he made threats indicating he was going to enter the school to commit harm to people inside. Abney then entered the school building, which prompted the 911 call. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After Mr. Abney was taken into custody, multiple searches were conducted of the areas of the school Abney was able to access, as well as the areas surrounding the school. No weapon was located during the searches. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Members of the New York State Police, Broome County Sheriff\u2019s Department and Vestal Police Department assisted Endicott Police at the scene. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
