This year\u2019s turn out of over 270 children and their families was the largest in the five years it has been held, according to the organizers. So much so that the event had to be divided into two separate sessions. <br> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entering the doors, the kids were greeted with tables full of pizza, chips, drinks and homemade cookies. Volunteers served the tasty treats.<br> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"665\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/www.greenstreetdata.com\/PS\/owego\/files\/2018\/12\/Party2-665x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-70298\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.greenstreetdata.com\/PS\/owego\/files\/2018\/12\/Party2-665x1024.jpg 665w, http:\/\/www.greenstreetdata.com\/PS\/owego\/files\/2018\/12\/Party2-195x300.jpg 195w, http:\/\/www.greenstreetdata.com\/PS\/owego\/files\/2018\/12\/Party2-768x1182.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.greenstreetdata.com\/PS\/owego\/files\/2018\/12\/Party2.jpg 1406w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 665px) 100vw, 665px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>DJ Grover played tunes to get the kids even more excited to see Santa. Homemade cookies were his reward.<br> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, Lori McDonough called out a name for a youngster to sit on Santa\u2019s lap and receive a gift. One little girl received her gift from Santa that was bigger than she was, but her smile was even larger than the package!<br> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Soon after, the first group was treated to a movie, \u201cRalph Breaks the Internet.\u201d \u00a0 The next group of ecstatic children then came in to find that it is Christmas at the VFW.<br> Lori McDonough and her many helpers work diligently to ensure this party is fun for all.<br> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout the year the VFW accepts donations to fund events for local children. Volunteers, 15 or so, do the shopping, wrapping, and all that\u2019s needed to make this event a success.<br> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The VFW also hosts a children\u2019s picnic in mid-summer with lots of activities.
