Croton Hose Co. #3 of the Owego Fire Department is again teaming up with local law enforcement and offering a \u201ccandy check\u201d for local trick-or-treaters at their fire station on the Flats, 8 Talcott St., from 6 to 8 p.m. on Halloween, Wednesday, Oct. 31.<\/p>\n
Representatives from the New York State Police, Tioga County Sheriff\u2019s Office, and Owego Police Department will be on hand to inspect candy, ensuring the safety of community children. <\/p>\n
Cider, donuts, hot coffee and hot cocoa will also be available with \u201cscary tunes\u201d from DJ Tommy D. of Flat Rat Adventures.<\/i> The community is invited to hang out with the Flat Rats Halloween Night. Last year more than 100 trick-or-treaters visited the fire station.<\/p>\n
Croton Hose Co. #3 is 174 years old, founded in 1844. Located on the \u201cFlats\u201d area of the Village of Owego, they proudly carry on the local nickname \u201cFlat Rats,\u201d affectionately given to area resident that live in that section of the village near the high school.
