A baby boy from Broome County is in the fight of life against neuroblastoma, and members of the community are rallying in support.<\/p>\n

Wyatt Plew was born on Oct. 9, 2018 to proud parents, Tyler and Katrina Plew at Wilson Hospital. Shortly after birth, he was transferred to Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, and then to the Children\u2019s Hospital of Philadelphia where he will undergo treatment. Neuroblastoma is a very rare disease most commonly found in children, striking fewer than 20,000 people in the United States each year.  <\/p>\n

Through their respective careers, both of Wyatt\u2019s parents dedicate themselves to helping others: Katrina is a nurse at UHS, and Tyler is employed by the SUNY Broome Police Department. Now, the community is stepping up to support the Plews in their time of need. They will remain at Wyatt\u2019s side and will be unable to return to work for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n

A group of Tyler Plew\u2019s close friends leaped into action upon learning of the dire diagnosis. In just days, a GoFundMe page established for the Plews has already generated over $10,000. All funds will be used to alleviate the pressures of medical bills and personal expenses for the family. <\/p>\n

A benefit dinner is being planned in Wyatt\u2019s honor, and will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the American Legion in Vestal, located at 118 Jensen Rd. There will be live music, raffles, and silent auctions. <\/p>\n

The public is asked and encouraged to come out, enjoy some great food and music and show their support for Wyatt and the Plew family.<\/p>\n
