The Candor Historical Society will meet on Wednesday, July 25, at the Candor Town Hall at 7 p.m. The topic for the evening will be Beekeeping with guest speaker Alan Tremblay.<\/p>\n
Beekeeping has a long and important history in the Candor area. Early in the settlement of the area the pioneers learned the benefits of keeping bees for the honey they produced and for the pollination of the crops they depended on. Over the years the practice of keeping bees has continued and the benefits are just as important today as they were many years ago.<\/p>\n
Anyone starting out in beekeeping soon realizes that there is much to be learned in order to be successful and learning from someone who has succeeded for many years is very helpful.<\/p>\n
Alan Tremblay is one of those successful beekeepers, having been in the business for nearly 50 years. Alan will be sharing some of what he has learned in a talk for the July meeting. His presentation will include information about the past, present and future of beekeeping. <\/p>\n
With the present stress on the honeybee population the program will be very informative and Alan will be willing to answer questions from those attending. Also, he will have honey products available for purchase at the meeting.<\/p>\n
