In 2017, the Tioga County Neighbors Helping Neighbors helped 428 residents by transporting them a total of 47,904.75 miles and providing other supportive services. <\/p>\n

The Tioga County Neighbors Helping Neighbors (TC NHN) is a collaborative of organizations with a unified goal of providing needed administrative, education and consultative support to every community in Tioga County that wishes to create and\/or sustain a volunteer-based neighbors helping neighbors program.<\/p>\n

Current member organizations include Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tioga County, the Community Care Network of Nichols (CCNN), Northern Tioga Neighbors Network (NTNN), Rural Health Network of South Central New York, Senior Information and Referral Services (SIRS) and Tioga County Rural Economic Area Partnership. <\/p>\n

The group meets monthly and works on the ways and means of creating and supporting a network of neighbors helping neighbors, services that support vulnerable populations (the frail, disabled, elderly, the uninsured and underinsured, those without transportation, etc.) to maximize access to health and human services that enhance the quality of life for residents of Tioga County.<\/p>\n

CCNN, NTNN, and SIRS provide free transportation, referrals, and other supportive services for the elderly and adults with disabilities. The primary reasons that people need transportation include medical appointments, going to the grocery store or food pantry, picking up a prescription and other needs. Destinations for clients included Sayre, the Nichols area, Owego, Johnson City, Waverly, Vestal, Athens, and more. <\/p>\n
