This session will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the OA Theater. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>RSVP to gouldk@oascd.org to make sure enough drums will be available for full participation during the workshop. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sulley Imoro is the director and founder of the Mbangba Cultural Troupe in Ghana, and former director of the dance ensemble at the University of Ghana in Legon. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Most notable performances are for the President of Ghana and former U.S. President Bill Clinton, amongst numerous other performances across Africa, Europe and the United States. Sulley also travels to the United States to teach African Drumming and Dancing in schools and communities throughout New York, West Virginia and California &#8211; working with schools in New York City, Owego and Ithaca, and universities such as the California Institute of Arts. Sulley is a graduate of the Ithaca College School of Music.<\/p>\n<p>During this two-hour workshop on July 11 in Owego, Sulley will be teaching participants a rhythm, dance and song from the Ewe people of Ghana. Drumming and dancing go hand in hand in African music. With one story, drumming, dancing, and singing will always be involved. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>OA students and families will be able to sing with Sulley, play on authentic African drums, and learn traditional dance moves from Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>Sulley worked with Owego music students in 2014 and 2016, and students always ask when he is coming back.
