The Newark Valley Chamber hosted a ribbon cutting on June 9 for the grand opening of Lambert\u2019s Attic, located at 4 Whig St. in Newark Valley, N.Y. The country-style general store is just around the corner from the Water Street and Route 38 intersection, and only a short distance from the Village Green.<\/p>\n

Owners Angela Randall and Norman Whittemore opened the store in November 2017 and have revamped the historic property into a distinctive shop. They shared, \u201cOur goal is to carry a little bit of everything that suits the residents of our community.\u201d<\/p>\n

A family owned and operated business, Lambert\u2019s Attic offers a collection of home d\u00e9cor and rustic gifts, and many that are hand-made by the owners and local community crafters. <\/p>\n

Lambert\u2019s features a vinyl graphics shop where they create stickers; signs, banners and customized apparel, and they also carry household and general hardware merchandise. Whether it\u2019s a new hammer or paintbrush, motor oil or windshield fluid, shovels, caulk or pipe insulation, just to name a few, Lambert\u2019s has stocked numerous every-day items.    <\/p>\n

The building, which Randall explained dates back to 1906, was once home to a Masonic Lodge. Lambert\u2019s Attic currently encompasses the first floor of the property and utilizes part of the second floor for their print shop. Future plans include the renovation of more open space on the second floor, and in addition, the owners are keeping in mind the vacant property next door to potentially purchase for expansion.  <\/p>\n

To infuse a nostalgic flair of yesteryear, Randall and Whittemore have plans to redesign the hardware section of the store so that it replicates and brings back the old-fashioned feel of a predecessor business that was housed there in the 1950\u2019s.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe reached out to the Newark Valley historian,\u201d Randall said, adding, \u201cAnd we hope to find photos and other information to help us recreate the look.\u201d<\/p>\n

Randall commented that she and her family moved to Tioga County in 2004 from the Syracuse, N.Y. area with the main focus of seeking out a small-town experience.<\/p>\n

Randall remarked, \u201cWe would like to thank everyone here who has welcomed us with open arms.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chamber president, Mer Barrett, commented, \u201cWe\u2019re very excited that Lambert\u2019s has opened and we appreciate them coming into the community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mayor Jim Tornatore added, \u201cThe lifeblood of a small community is local business.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lambert\u2019s Attic is open Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. They are closed on Monday.<\/p>\n
