Are you looking to do something to improve your community? On June 9, the Tioga County Water Quality Coordinating Committee (WQCC) will be holding their 18th annual stream cleanup event at the Trout Ponds in Newark Valley from 9 to 11:30 a.m.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s easy to be involved; all you need to do is register with the Tioga County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD). This cleanup event is open to the public and will be led by members of the WQCC.<\/p>\n<p>If you have a larger group, you can also volunteer your time to clean up any stream within the county separately from this event. All participants receive free trash bags, gloves, and gift to commemorate the event.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Soil &amp; Water Conservation District and the town highway departments also partner in this event to coordinate pickup, disposal and then transport the collected trash to Taylor\u2019s Garbage Service, in Owego.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you are interested in registering yourself to attend the Trout Pond cleanup event or a group for this year&#8217;s stream cleanup program, contact Miranda Palmer at the Soil and Water Conservation District at (607) 687-3553, emailing <a href=\"mailto:Palmerm@co.tioga.ny.us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Palmerm@co.tioga.ny.us<\/a>, or stopping by their office Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 183 Corporate Dr. in Owego. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A special thank you to their long time sponsors of the event, because without their support this event would not be possible.
