A special Easter event, the Stations of the Cross, was held at the Gospel Chapel, located at 203 North Ave. in Owego, on March 29 and 30.<\/p>\n

The self-guided tour, held in the church fellowship rooms, allowed guests to walk through the events that Jesus traveled during his last days on Earth, and as the Church communicated, \u201cA journey not to be forgotten.\u201d<\/p>\n

Church member Joan Dawson, and one of about 12 individuals who designed and crafted each station, shared, \u201cWe hope this touched people in a special way. It\u2019s a humbled-down version, and it\u2019s meant to bring people closer to Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Gospel Chapel\u2019s Stations of the Cross included 12 separate stations, and where they invited guests to take their time reading the passages of scripture and reflect on each event.<\/p>\n

A welcome sign read, \u201cEmbrace each station with a humble heart and \u2018touch the cross.\u2019 In addition, \u2018nail your sins\u2019 to the cross, and take a prayer slip at each station as you journey with Him.\u201d<\/p>\n

From station one, \u201cJesus in the Garden of Gethsemane,\u201d to station six, \u201cJesus Carries His Burden,\u201d and then on to station eight, \u201cCrucified,\u201d and the eleventh station, \u201cJesus\u2019 Death,\u201d to the twelfth station, \u201cJesus is placed in the Tomb,\u201d visitors were welcomed to interact at each station, such as lighting a candle, writing their own sins on paper and nailing it to a board, along with taking home a souvenir cross, among other hands-on activities.<\/p>\n

A craft station for children was also set up inside the fellowship rooms. <\/p>\n

Senior Pastor Andy Fey shared, \u201cThe Stations of the Cross represents the power of resurrection for everyone,\u201d adding that part of the message is also, \u201cGod\u2019s love for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Church member Bill Lewis added, \u201cIt was a journey putting all this together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dawson said she appreciates the outpouring of help from the congregation, and the time members donated to make it successful.<\/p>\n

The Gospel Chapel, nestled between Weaver Automotive and a private home, dates back to the early 1970\u2019s. Sunday Worship Services are held at 10:30 a.m.  <\/p>\n
