Tioga County is growing future leaders through its Institute for Advancement program. The program kicked off with its opening session last week, welcoming 19 county employees who attended the first of five classes that will be given throughout the year. <\/p>\n

Over a year ago, a Succession Planning Committee was established to examine the approaching retiring county workforce and to identify the leadership positions that would soon be left vacant. The impending loss of historical knowledge and skill sets is a threat to the future success of county government. <\/p>\n

Therefore, the Planning Committee identified critical roles within the county and with the help of current leaders identified possible internal successors for the future. <\/p>\n

The Planning Committee studied similar training programs such as Ontario County, and then created Tioga County specific classes intended to educate individuals and help them step into positions of leadership. <\/p>\n

Classes include management skills, budgeting and fiscal skills, County operational procedures, hiring and conflict management, and will increase overall County knowledge. <\/p>\n

The goal of the Institute is to develop a program designed to build leadership skills, to provide technical information, and to prepare individuals for future opportunities within Tioga County Government.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
