Justice David B. Boland, a lifelong resident of the Village of Owego, has officially made it known that he will be seeking re-election for the Village of Owego Justice seat in March of 2018. Judge Boland currently serves as the Village of Owego Justice, as well as Associate Justice in the Village of Waverly. <\/p>\n

Serving since 1992, the Judge instituted a computer automated calendar and financial system in the Owego Village Court as well as the Waverly Court. He also obtained a $20,000 grant to remodel and install a state of the art security system in the Owego Village Court in 2012. <\/p>\n

Prior to his judicial service, Judge Boland was the chairman of the Village of Owego Planning Board, which was responsible for adding $12 million dollars the Village tax rolls. Boland is a retired Staff Systems Analyst from IBM in Owego. <\/p>\n

According to Judge Boland, he has adjudicated tens of thousands of cases in his tenure, from violations to \u201cA\u201d Felony cases. He has conducted bail hearings, preliminary felony hearings, decided on legal motions, bail, and ordering drug and alcohol evaluations. Along with this, according to Boland, he considered and assigned people to community service and made probation pre-trial release recommendations, as well as directing people to be placed on probation. <\/p>\n

Judge Boland has over 500 credit hours with New York State and is fully certified to continue the job. He is also a 56-year member of the Owego Fire Department, a 40-year member of the Eastern Motor Sports Press Association, a Life member of the International Freelance Photographers Association, and has owned property and paid taxes in the Village of Owego for 50 years. <\/p>\n

Judge Boland also stated that he has a capable staff, with Diane Gregory as his court clerk and the Honorable Lynn Craig as his associate justice. Both are certified for their jobs by the State of New York. <\/p>\n

Judge Boland is married to Kate (Parker) Boland, and they have three sons, three daughter in laws, and seven grandsons.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
