{"id":62133,"date":"2017-12-05T09:21:34","date_gmt":"2017-12-05T13:21:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.owegopennysaver.com\/PS\/?p=62133"},"modified":"2017-12-05T09:21:34","modified_gmt":"2017-12-05T13:21:34","slug":"date-set-for-21st-annual-memorial-blood-drive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.owegopennysaver.com\/PS\/2017\/12\/05\/date-set-for-21st-annual-memorial-blood-drive\/","title":{"rendered":"Date set for 21st Annual Memorial Blood Drive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Town of Owego Supervisor Donald Castellucci Jr. will be hosting his 21st Annual Memorial Blood Drive in memory of his parents, Donald and Grace Castellucci Sr. This year&#8217;s drive is set for Dec. 21, and will take place at the Owego Elks Lodge from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling 1-800-redcross or online at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redcrossblood.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.redcrossblood.org<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Each year since his father&#8217;s death on Dec. 25, 1997, Don has held a blood drive in his memory. In 2010 he lost his mother to cancer, and added her memory to the drive.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Castellucci stated; \u201cDuring their illness, blood and platelets were needed to extend their life. Our family was blessed by the generosity of a giving public. Each year in return, we try to give something back to help others. We have recruited approximately 630 donors helping 1,890 patients to date. We are grateful to all who have joined us in helping others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As in the past, a rigatoni and meatball dinner will be served to all donors. Also, the family asks that food items be brought for Tioga County Rural Ministry.
