{"id":55843,"date":"2017-04-20T10:43:33","date_gmt":"2017-04-20T14:43:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.owegopennysaver.com\/PS\/?p=55843"},"modified":"2017-04-20T10:43:33","modified_gmt":"2017-04-20T14:43:33","slug":"the-contradictions-featured-in-owego","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.owegopennysaver.com\/PS\/2017\/04\/20\/the-contradictions-featured-in-owego\/","title":{"rendered":"The Contradictions featured in Owego"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Contradictions is the featured band for the \u201cContradance with some Squares\u201d dance on Sunday, April 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Countryside Community Center located at 9 Sheldon Guile Blvd. in Owego.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A favorite of the contradance community, the Contradictions\u2019 recipe of the solid twin fiddles of Tim Ball (filling in for Laurie Hart) and Rick Manning (Rick also contributes mandolin), the driving and adventurous rhythm of Tom Hodgson\u2019s guitar and Dave Davies on bass has propelled excited dancers from all over the Northeast to as far away as Copenhagen, Denmark.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For over 15 years the band has been offering an eclectic mix of fiddle tunes and songs from American and European traditions including lively Irish jigs, French Canadian reels, slick bluegrass breaks and 1930\u2019s hot swing standards.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Vikki Armstrong adds her seasoned and gracious dance calling to the sounds of the Contradictions, making for a guaranteed unforgettable experience of traditional music and dance.<\/p>\n<p>All dances are taught and prompted by caller Vikki Armstrong. Contradancing, like square dancing, is done to a walking step and is easy to learn.
