A MANtique Collectibles inaugural auction, hosted by owner Dennis Michaels, is scheduled for Monday, March 27 inside the Owego Central Marketplace building located at 50 Lake St. on the corner of Lake and Main Streets in Owego, N.Y. The auction starts at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n

The MANtique Collectibles business, known as the home of \u201cThe Unique, the Odd and the Unusual,\u201d recently moved from its longstanding North Avenue location to its new home inside the Owego Central Marketplace.<\/p>\n

Although Michaels is relinquishing a significant amount of space with the move to Lake Street, he is hopeful that his business will benefit from increased foot traffic at the Owego Central Marketplace, which is also home to the Tioga Trails Caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n

It seems entrepreneurship runs in the Michaels family, too. Michael\u2019s wife, Sue, is owner of the Kitchen Store, also on North Avenue, and his daughter Maren operates her business, the Art Palate, out of the same location.   <\/p>\n

As for Dennis Michaels, he is well known for his distinctive eclectic collections, a majority of which is focused on male-oriented and \u201cman cave\u201d selections. From military, sports, history, science, horror and sci-fi, to animals, knights of old, aeronautics and the old west to posters and signs, among many others, the curious shopper is presented with a blend of vintage one-of-a-kind and idiosyncratic items.<\/p>\n

Michaels explained that customers will discover \u201coff-beat and off-centered items, but many with humor and style unlike anything you will find elsewhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

The March 27 event is the first of planned monthly auctions that Michaels is introducing. Auctioneer Adam Cole, of Cole Auctions in Tioga Center, will lead the auction process on March 27, which is expected to showcase over 200 lots of unique, odd and unusual items.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe monthly auctions will compliment what I already have in store inventory,\u201d Michaels said, adding that he hopes guests who attend will find the auctions to be fun and entertaining and different than other auctions.      <\/p>\n

An inspection preview for the event starts at 3:30 p.m. and seating for the 5 p.m. start will accommodate about 150 people. Food items and a cash bar will be available featuring selections from the Tioga Trails Caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n
