The Tioga County Historical Society (TCHS) is pleased to invite artists to enter the 2017 Juried Exhibition, with the theme of \u2018Sky\u2019. All artwork must interpret \u2018Sky\u2019 as it relates to a historical, current day, or possible future global connection associated with a rural\/small town environment.  <\/p>\n

Artists are invited to submit two-dimensional or relief work for possible inclusion in the exhibition, to be held June 2 through July 22.  <\/p>\n

The museum is located along the banks of the Susquehanna River in the picturesque town voted \u201cCoolest Small Town in America\u201d in 2010 by Budget Travel Magazine. Owego is also known for its participation in the Underground Railroad, with homes along the riverbank that offered passage to people as they traveled to escape a system of slavery. <\/p>\n

Upstream, Hiawatha Island is a refuge for eagles, and downstream the shoreline supports a heron rookery. Tioga County divides lands between the controversial practices of hydrofracking, and is a route to the Finger Lakes. <\/p>\n

Exhibiting juried artists compete to win $400 in prizes. Jurors include Terry McDonald, Roberson Museum and Science Center; John Brunelli, Anthony Brunelli Fine Arts; and Allen C. Smith, professional artist. <\/p>\n

The Tioga County Historical Society is accepting applications for this event through March 3. Applications can be found at tiogahistory.org<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Artists can submit up to three images as jpegs on a CD, with a non-refundable<\/i> Entry Fee of $25. All mediums are welcome.   <\/p>\n
