On Tuesday, the Tioga County District Attorney\u2019s office reported that on Jan. 13, 2017, in Tioga County Court, Jordan T. Stevens, age 22 of 194 Newman Rd. in Candor, N.Y. plead guilt and admitted to the seven count indictment he was facing in connection with an incident that occurred in the early morning hours of May 22, 2016 in the Town of Candor.<\/p>\n
The indictment charged him with attempting to murder Justin Wilcox, stealing several items that belonged to Wilcox, and then concealing or disposing of evidence.<\/p>\n
According to the district attorney\u2019s office, the seven counts include Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a class B felony; Assault in the First Degree, a class B felony; Strangulation in the Second Degree, a class D felony; Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a class D felony; two counts of Tampering with Physical Evidence, both class E felonies; and one count of Petit Larceny, a class A misdemeanor.<\/p>\n
The district attorney explained, in a press release, that Stevens attacked Wilcox in the parking lot of the Methodist Church at the intersection of Fairfield Road and Newman Road in the Town of Candor, N.Y.<\/p>\n
The press release went on further to explain that Stevens strangled Wilcox until he was unconscious, then pushed him out of the car and assaulted him by jumping up and down on his head while he was lying on the ground. After commandeering Wilcox\u2019s car, Stevens drove over him. He then drove back over Wilcox a second time.<\/p>\n
Stevens fled the scene in Wilcox\u2019s car, and threw Wilcox\u2019s cell phone and wallet out of the car. Stevens then drove to his residence at 149 Newman Rd., where he threw clothes belonging to Wilcox that had been in the car behind the garage. Stevens also stole Wilcox\u2019s sneakers.<\/p>\n
The case was investigated by the Tioga County Sheriff\u2019s office with Senior Wayne Moulton, of the Criminal Investigations Division, supervising.<\/p>\n
Stevens remains in the Broome County Jail without bail awaiting sentencing. A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for April 21, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. in Tioga County Court.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
