Grant funded, there is no charge for this computer instruction.<\/p>\n<p>Open lab evenings will be held at the Owego Free Academy lab located on Sheldon Guile Boulevard in Owego, Room 105, on Jan. 9, 18, 23 and 30, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. each evening.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Open lab hours are also held every Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Tioga County Health and Human Resource building (Broome &#8211; Tioga Workforce resource room), located on State Route 38 in Owego. Adults can use computer software, use the Internet, check E-Mail, or apply for jobs online. Staff will be available for assistance, and there is no need to pre-register during open lab times, drop-ins are welcome.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Classes offered in January at the OFA lab site are \u201cBasics of Microsoft Power Point\u201d, held Tuesday, Jan. 3 and Wednesday, Jan. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m.; and \u201cSocial Networking \u2013 Using Facebook\u201d, held Thursday, Jan. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Beginning Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, \u201cThe Basics of Microsoft Windows, Word &amp; Excel\u201d will be offered at the OFA lab site. This comprehensive six-week class is geared at beginner and intermediate level computing and will meet most Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. Students will learn the basics of the Microsoft Windows operating system, and learn skills in Microsoft Word (a word-processing program) and Excel (a spreadsheet program). Pre-registration is required by contacting the Literacy Volunteers office at (607) 778-6406.<\/p>\n<p>The following classes are also offered in January at the OFA lab site: \u201cUsing E-Mail Effectively\u201d, held Thursday, Jan. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m.; and \u201cApplying for Jobs Online\u201d, Thursday, Jan. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. This workshop will offer tips on how to apply for jobs online, with hands on practice.<\/p>\n<p>Open lab sessions are drop-in, but students are encouraged to pre-register to attend classes, and can do so by calling the Literacy Volunteers office at (607) 778-6406.
