The check, which represents proceeds from the VFW\u2019s third annual golf tournament held on Sept. 18, benefits the Rural Ministry\u2019s annual holiday food giveaway.<\/p>\n<p>On hand to present the check to TCRM Executive Director, Sister Mary O\u2019Brien, was Louie Striley, president of the VFW Men\u2019s Auxiliary; Alycia Haus, TCRM Board of Directors member; Ralph Tapia, VFW commander; and Dave Bensley, VFW quartermaster.<\/p>\n<p>Tapia thanked the members of the VFW, including the men\u2019s auxiliary and Vietnam Veterans\u2019 of America, as well as sponsors and donors.<\/p>\n<p>Tapia also expressed a special acknowledgement to Haus and Bensley, whom he said were instrumental in the planning and work that made the tournament a success.<\/p>\n<p>More than 22 local businesses and individuals sponsored a hole for the golf tournament and 23 other individuals and businesses were either donors or door prize donors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a marvelous gift and more than what was anticipated,\u201d Sister Mary stated, and explained that the money will help upwards of 250 people this year.<\/p>\n<p>Haus commented, \u201cWe hope next year it will be even bigger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For more information about TCRM, visit their website at tcrm.org.
